The company was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford, who created it using $ 28 000 investments got from five investors. Ford is famous for being the first company used classical assembly conveyor.

First world wide known car model, manufactured by the company, became a Ford Model T, produced in the 1908-1926 years.

In the late 1920s USSR signed an agreement with the company for assistance in the construction of car factory in Nizhny Novgorod.

In the II quarter of 2007 Ford Motor Company sold its Aston Martin department to the consortium of investors for $ 925 million.

March 29, 2010 the Chinese company Zhejiang Geely announced an agreement to buy Volvo Cars from Ford Motor Company for $ 1.8 billion. The deal was closed in early August 2010.
