Yamaha Motor company was founded on July 1, 1955 in Japan. At that time there were 150 motorcycle manufacturers on the Japanese market already.
The history of Yamaha motorcycles started when the president of Nippon Gakki (now Yamaha Corporation), decided to create the first motorcycle with the help of equipment used in the manufacture of aircraft parts. The first model YA-1 had the “Aka-tombo” nickname , it can be translated as “red dragonfly”.
In 1970, the company developed a new engine 650 cc, and produced a new motorcycle model XS-1.
In 1998 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorbike model was developed. It became widely known as the best model of the decade in “Supersport” class.
