Car Mirror History

Auto_Accessories_Car_mirrorsAs usual three mirrors are installed in the car: one – in the cabin above the windshield, and two mirrors are located outside on the front doors – left and right.
In 1911 first rear-view mirror was installed in the car, which took part in the 500 miles race in Indianapolis.

Car Lights History

Auto_Accessories_Car_LightsSince the creation of the car it was a question of the 24h possibility of using the car. So, the car lights became an answer.
The earliest lamps used kerosene, but it didn’t solve the problem of lighting in general. The pilot and aircraft designer Louis Bleriot in 1896 proposed the use of acetylene lamps. Such lamps at that time were used as a locomotive lights. First driver had to open a tap with acetylene, open lights and only then burn with a match.

Car Wheels History

Auto_Accessories_Car_WheelThe world’s first wheel was made by Robert William Thomson (English). The patent N10990, June 10, 1846.
The test results were published in the “Mechanics Magazine” journal in March 27, 1849, along with a picture of the vehicle. Unfortunately, no one could organize mass production of the invention for the reasonable price. After the death of Thomson in 1873, the invention was forgotten.

Airbag History

Auto_Accessories_Car_Air_BagSomething like an airbag was used in aircraft’s equipment in the 1940s, the first patents were made in the 50s.
American inventor Allen Breed created the main component for using airbags in automobiles, it was ball sensor for determining the collision. He introduced his invention in 1967 to the Chrysler company. At that time, the Americans rarely wore seat-belts and such innovation, which helped to protect unfastened passengers in case of frontal collision, was in great demand.

Auto_Accessories_Car_BrakesThe first braking systems were used on horse transport. Horse carriage could have high speed, however, horse itself could not stop the vehicle. The first mechanism slowed the wheel by hand lever or system of levers. A wooden block, sometimes – with leather surface, pressed directly to the wheel rim and slowed it. In wet weather it was ineffective, in addition, the spread of rubber tires made it simply impossible, because the rubber should be erased quickly in such construction.
